Easy Greek Chicken Gyros (Slow Cooker Style for Busy Moms)

Busy moms, meet your new favorite crockpot dinner! These Greek chicken gyros are bold, easy, and perfect with naan and potato wedges
Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 6 hours
Servings: 6 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Chicken Breasts (frozen or thawed)
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 3 TBS Butter or Olive Oil
  • 1 TBS Garlic (fresh or powedered)
  • 1 TBS Marjoram
  • 1 TBS Rosemary
  • 2 tsp Salt

Method

  1. Place 2 pounds of meat in the crockpot (so about 3-4 large chicken breasts). Dont stress about the exact amount. Around 2 lbs will turn out great. And it can be frozen or raw.
  2. Chop one onion and throw it in to the crockpot. I love the taste of vedalia onions, but again dont stress, any onion works (even a red one)!
  3. Add 1 TBS garlic, fresh or powdered, then 1 TBS marjoram, 1 TBS Rosemary, 2 tsp salt, and about ½ cup of chicken broth.
  4. Drizzle with some olive oil or butter to keep the chicken more tender.
  5. Cook on low for about 6 hours. If you need to cook it on high, go for it! Itll take closer to 4 hours. The chicken just may not be as tender.
  6. To Serve, start with naan or pita and then top with: Shredded Chicken, Turmeric Rice, Feta Cheese, Chopped Tomatoes, Chopped Cucumbers, Shredded Lettuce, Kalamata Olives (if you like that), and Tzatziki Sauce.
